The Washington Commanders are a professional American football team that compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the National Football Conference (NFC) East division.
Formerly known as the Washington Redskins, the Redskins name and logo was viewed as controversial and was retired in 2020. The franchise played under the name the Washington Football Team for two seasons before rebranding as the Commanders in 2022.
The franchise earned three Super Bowls in 1982, 1987, and 1991 and had the NFL’s first marching band, radio network, and first fully televised season.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels, No.2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, Pro Bowler, and Heisman Trophy winner, has headlined the Commanders’ offense.
