Jim Carrey is an actor who is known for his roles in many comedy films like 鈥淭he Mask,鈥� "Dumb and Dumber" and 鈥淎ce Ventura.鈥� Another one of his popular roles is playing the Grinch in the 2000 Christmas live action remake.
Carrey was born on January 17, 1962 in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada to parents Kathleen and Percy. Carrey moved to Los Angeles and later became a United States citizen in 2004.
He first broke into the entertainment industry by doing stand up comedy and celebrity impressions. He later started to land his earliest movie roles in things like 鈥淔inders Keepers,鈥� 鈥淥nce Bitten鈥� and 鈥淧eggy Sue Got Married.鈥�
From 1990 until 1994, Carrey was in the television series, 鈥淚n Living Color.鈥� After that came a slew of some of Carrey鈥檚 most well-known movies to date. In 1994, Carrey first played Ace Ventura in "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective." He played the role again the next year in 鈥淎ce Ventura: When Nature Calls.鈥�
Also in 1994, Carrey was in 鈥淭he Mask鈥� and played Lloyd in the comedy 鈥淒umb and Dumber,鈥� a role he reprised in 2014 for the sequel.

Some of Carrey鈥檚 more recent roles have been in 鈥淭he Bad Batch鈥� and 鈥淒ark Crimes鈥� in 2016. In 2020, he was in 鈥淪onic the Hedgehog,鈥� where he voiced Doctor Eggman and also acted in the television show 鈥淜idding鈥� from 2018 to 2020. In 2022, Carrey was in "Sonic the Hedgehog 2."
Carrey has been married twice in his life. He was first married to Melissa Womer from 1987 until 1995 when the two parted ways. The couple shares a daughter Jane. Carrey then married Lauren Holly from 1996 to 1997.
Carrey was also briefly engaged to Renee Zellweger after the two met on the set of 鈥淢e, Myself & Irene.鈥� The two were together from 1999 until their split in December 2000.
