Alberta separatists say they have enough signatures for referendum on leaving Canada

Separatists in Alberta declared they now have enough signatures to trigger a vote on the province leaving Canada.

The Stay Free Alberta group said Monday it formally submitted almost 302,000 signatures after needing 178,000 names to force the province to consider such a ballot measure. The question of separation could go on a province-wide ballot as early as October, as Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has said she would move forward if enough names are gathered and verified.

"This day is historic in Alberta history," Mitch Sylvestre, the head of Stay Free Alberta, said Monday as he arrived at the Elections Alberta office in Edmonton leading a convoy of seven trucks to deliver the names. "It’s the first step to the next step — we’ve gotten by Round 3, and now we’re in the Stanley Cup final."

Smith has said she personally does not support the oil-rich province leaving Canada, but she has accused previous federal Liberal governments of introducing legislation that hamstrings Alberta’s ability to produce and export oil, which she said has cost the province billions of dollars, and noted that she doesn’t want the federal government meddling in provincial issues, according to The Associated Press.

More than 300 supporters gathered in Edmonton on Monday, waving the provincial flag and chanting "Alberta strong."

Daniel Béland, a political science professor at McGill University in Montreal, told the AP that despite the independence effort, liberal Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney "is indeed popular, even in Alberta."

"The push for independence by some Albertans predates his prime ministership, and it’s related to economic, fiscal, and political grievances about the seemingly unfair treatment of Alberta by the federal government," Béland said. Béland added that some Indigenous groups that are already using the courts to prevent an independence referendum would use venues including the courts to stop independence from happening.

Former Dem mayoral candidate admits forging voter registration applications

Henrilynn Ibezim, a former Democratic mayoral candidate in New Jersey, pleaded guilty to forging nearly 1,000 voter registration applications during the 2021 Democratic primary, New Jersey's Office of the Attorney General announced Thursday.

During the 2021 Democratic primary for Plainfield, New Jersey's mayoral seat, Ibezim allegedly brought a garbage bag filled with around 1,000 falsified voter registration applications to a post office in Elizabeth, New Jersey, with the intention of mailing them to Union County's registration commissioner.

Of the 1,000 applications, most were completed with the handwriting of only three or four people, according to the attorney general. None of the slips were marked as completed by somebody other than the voter whom they were supposed to represent.

Ibezim also attempted to coach a witness who helped him fill out the applications on how to respond to law enforcement questions, telling the witness not to "admit anything," the attorney general's office previously said.

Despite his efforts, Ibezim, who was running on the Unity Party ticket, received only 103 votes in the primary and lost to Plainfield's current mayor, Adrian O. Mapp.

Ibezim pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree forgery Monday as part of a plea agreement with the attorney general's office. He had originally been charged with eight counts of various criminal offenses, including election fraud and witness tampering, but those charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement.

Prosecutors will recommend that Ibezim serve probation as punishment, according to the statement. He is due for sentencing in June.

Trump election integrity push exposes massive amount of dead people on North Carolina voter rolls

The North Carolina State Board of Elections identified approximately 34,000 dead people on the state's voter rolls following a comprehensive data comparison with a federal database.

Earlier this month, the NCSBE submitted over 7.3 million voter records to the federal Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) database as part of an initiative to strengthen the accuracy and integrity of the state's voter registration list. The NCSBE clarified that the identification of deceased individuals on the state's voter rolls does not necessarily indicate illegal votes were cast.

"While we expected to find some cases, this is higher than we anticipated," Sam Hayes, the executive director of the State Board of Elections, said in a press release.

"The benefit of entering into cross-state and federal database checks is that it allows us to uncover issues like this. Our goal is to use every available and legal tool at our disposal to achieve the most accurate voter rolls possible," he continued. "Now, we must roll up our sleeves and begin the hard work to act of verifying that every person registered to vote in North Carolina is eligible. Our team, along with our state and federal will do what’s necessary to meet this responsibility."

The discovery came amid the agency's ongoing effort to verify the citizenship status of voters, which the NCSBE voted along party lines earlier this month to do after facing lawsuits from the Trump administration for allegedly failing to maintain an accurate voter list.

The NCSBE said it will work with county boards of elections to remove the names from the voter rolls.

Federal law requires states to remove from their voter rolls people who are ineligible for reasons such as being deceased and North Carolina already has a process of biennial list maintenance to remove ineligible voters from its roles, according to Dr. Andy Jackson, director of the Civitas Center for Public Integrity at the John Locke Foundation, who indicated that the state removed 500,000 ineligible voters through this program in 2025.

However, as Jackson points out for deceased voters, it can take eight to 10 years for their names to be removed.

"Working with the SAVE database has already helped improve" North Carolina's list maintenance system, Jackson added, calling the system "crucial."

The second Trump administration has increased oversight and investigations into election integrity matters, including through updates to the SAVE program last year.

The Justice Department has sued at least 30 states and the District of Columbia to try to force the release of the data, according to the Associated Press.

The Republican National Committee's official election integrity account on X said that the findings in North Carolina "is EXACTLY" why the Trump administration is forcing states to clean up their voter rolls.

Virginia’s redistricting fight is headed to the state's high court Thursday after a red county judge who previously tried to spurn the "yes" camp threw a wrench into the certification process late Wednesday.

The situation sets up a clash between the judge who halted certification and the state Supreme Court, which allowed the referendum to proceed while challenges remained under review.

Virginia Republicans are urging the courts to take up their challenge to the ballot measure, which voters approved 51%-49% and is expected to redraw the state's congressional districts to give Democrats a 10-1 majority in the House delegation.

GOP officials argue the ballot measure process was illegitimate, and pressure is on to save every Republican-held House seat they can with the U.S. midterm elections fast approaching and the Republican majority in Congress hanging by a thread.

"[On Tuesday] Virginians saw exactly what happens when a misleading, rigged question is shoved onto the ballot," state Senate Minority Leader Ryan McDougle, R-Hanover, told 91�� Digital. "If this were really about fairness, the advocates wouldn’t have needed to blow $90 million-plus to trick voters. Litigation is still pending with the courts, but the bottom line is clear: Virginians deserve far better."

The Supreme Court of Virginia (SCOVA) in March stayed an earlier injunction from Tazewell County Circuit Court Judge Jack Hurley Jr., clearing the way for the referendum to advance while making clear it had not ruled on the merits. Hurley ruled again late Wednesday, declaring the ballot language unconstitutional and blocking certification of the results.

A legislative source told 91�� Digital the SCOVA is not likely to play ball on that matter and instead will continue its own litigation of the cases and potentially rebuke Hurley. Still, certification of the election is now paused despite Thursday's SCOVA filing date.

Shortly after the ruling came down, Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones, a Democrat who beat GOP incumbent Jason Miyares in November, indicated his office will "immediately file an appeal."

"As I said last night, Virginia voters have spoken, and an activist judge should not have veto power over the people’s vote." Jones said in a statement.

Republican Party of Virginia (RPV) Chairman Jeff Ryer told 91�� Digital in an interview Wednesday the party is directly involved in a case before Richmond City Circuit Court that is also challenging the new maps.

According to an RPV statement, that case is titled RNC v. VA State Board of Elections, and a decision on any injunction blocking the new maps is expected next week.

Koski v. RNC and another case, Scott v. McDougle, challenged the allegedly misleading ballot language and procedures that led up to the map redraw and the election itself.

Reps. Morgan Griffith and Ben Cline, R-Va., joined the RNC in its Koski case, which focuses in part on state law requiring an "intervening election" to be held before a referendum can go to voters and argued that early voting having begun before the referendum drafting process started made the vote "void ab initio."

McDougle's case argues lawmakers improperly used an old special session called by then-Gov. Glenn Youngkin to push through the referendum, among other procedural violations, a claim that goes to the heart of whether the process itself was constitutional.

Hurley ruled in McDougle’s favor Jan. 27 before SCOVA intervened after a Democrat appeal Feb. 13 to let the election move forward but said it would still review the merits of that case.

Former U.S. Attorney John Fishwick Jr. of the Roanoke-based Western District of Virginia told 91�� Digital the Virginia Supreme Court had issued its postponement hoping that voters would vote "no" and make any necessary legal action moot.

"Now there is white heat on this court, but there are strong arguments that the legislature did not follow its own rules when it passed this proposed amendment," Fishwick said, predicting a "prompt" decision.

Delegate Wren Williams, R-Stuart, an attorney who had favored allowing counties to decline election preparations until SCOVA stayed Hurley’s ruling, argued the referendum was illegitimate, and the results should be tossed.

"There are huge constitutional issues with this process to begin with," Williams said in an exclusive interview. "There's a 1952 case where Arlington threw out their own referendum. And in this case, people can say the voters decided all they want, but they didn't decide based on the process that we have in the Constitution."

Williams said a short time before Hurley’s ruling that everything is essentially "parked" at SCOVA in Richmond waiting to be consolidated and ruled upon.

VIRGINIA DEMS ACCUSED OF ILLEGALLY ‘STEAMROLLING’ STATE LAW THAT COULD UPEND REDISTRICTING CRUSADE

Williams said it was clear the election was made to be more about President Donald Trump than Virginia voters.

That assertion would help the case of U.S. Reps. Rob Wittman, R-Va., and John McGuire, R-Va., whose filing challenging Democrats’ "to restore fairness" language describing the referendum at the ballot box is being heard.

Ryer said Wittman and McGuire’s case has been consolidated into the Koski-RNC case.

Ryer remained optimistic about all cases and pledged that, either way, the RPV will have nominees for all 11 seats, redistricted or not, and called Tuesday’s vote an encouraging sign.

"This is the best performance for anything that's been Republican-aligned in the state since the 2021 election, and I think it does demonstrate that Virginia is still a purple state," Ryer said after the results depicted about a 12-point swing to the right from former Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears’ loss in November.

House Minority Leader Terry Kilgore, R-Gate City, added that rural Virginia came out strong to try to offset the Washington suburbs.

"We're still fighting. We're still fighting in the courts. We think we're going to win in the courts. The language was so misleading. They didn't follow the statutes they were supposed to follow. There's a lot of missteps that happened during the process. So, we feel comfortable going on to the next phase," he said.

Democrats remained bullish that the election results will stand after Hurley’s ruling and court activity commencing at SCOVA Thursday, with Ready for Hillary founder Adam Parkhomenko saying on X, "Virginia voters spoke. MAGA lost. And now a rogue Republican judge is trying to override the will of the people because they didn’t like the outcome."

If the cases fail, many redistricting opponents still have faith.

Del. Delores Oates, R-Front Royal, said in a statement that the "YES" crew did not get a "mandate" and that the new 10-1 map may also be a sign.

KEN CUCCINELLI: Virginia voted yes, will the courts vote the same way?

On April 21, Virginia voters narrowly approved a referendum to let the Democrat-controlled General Assembly redraw the state’s congressional map, replacing districts drawn by the bipartisan commission voters themselves created in 2020 by a huge 2 to 1 margin. The margin on this week’s referendum was slim — roughly 51.5 percent to 48.5 percent. But the vote, dramatic as it was, is not the final chapter. Three lawsuits, raising four distinct (state) constitutional challenges, are already in courts. And the institution that will ultimately decide whether this referendum stands is not the United States Supreme Court. It is the Supreme Court of Virginia.

All of the challenges here are rooted entirely in the Virginia Constitution — specifically, in whether the General Assembly followed Virginia’s own rules for amending its Constitution. This fight begins and ends in Richmond.

The first two challenges, already before the Virginia Supreme Court, attack the process by which the amendment received its first passage on October 31, 2025. Virginia’s Constitution, in Article XII, Section 1, prescribes a specific two-step process for amendments. A proposed amendment must first pass both chambers of the General Assembly, then there must be an intervening election. After that intervening election, and a second passage at the subsequent session, the amendment goes before voters.

The challengers argue that two violations took place regarding the first passage of the amendment. The first passage did not occur during a proper session of the General Assembly. It took place during a special session originally convened by then-Governor Youngkin in 2024 to address a budget dispute. The "Yes" men argue that session was technically never adjourned — it was kept open for nearly two years — and Democrats used it to pass the redistricting amendment. Opponents contend this exceeded the scope of the special session’s call, which was limited to budget matters. Expanding it to encompass a constitutional amendment on redistricting would have required a two-thirds vote that never occurred. A Tazewell County circuit judge agreed, declaring the action "void, ab initio" — void from the beginning — under Article IV, Section 6, and Article V, Section 5, of the Virginia Constitution.

The second procedural challenge goes to the heart of Article XII’s timing requirements. Because first passage occurred during the 2025 election rather than before a general election, challengers argue there was no intervening election between the first and second passages. The entire point of the intervening-election requirement is to give voters a voice — a chance to weigh in on the legislators who will cast the decisive second vote. That democratic safeguard, opponents say, was circumvented.

At the time of first passage on October 31, 2025, over one million Virginians had already voted in the 2025 election — the same election the "Yes" men want to legally treat as the required ‘intervening election.’

A third challenge was heard today in Tazewell County Circuit Court. It involves Article XII, Section 1’s mandate that a proposed amendment may not be submitted to voters "sooner than ninety days after final passage by the General Assembly." The question is straightforward: did ninety days actually elapse between the second passage and the commencement of voting on the referendum? Challengers say it did not, and that this is not a technicality — it is a bright-line constitutional requirement.

Second passage occurred on January 19, 2026. Open voting in Virginia’s 45-day election began on March 6, 2026. You do the math. The last day to vote was Tuesday, April 21st, so the "Yes" men will argue that what counts is that 90 days elapsed between second passage and election day — April 21st. The Judge in Tazewell ruled today that the 90-day requirement was not complied with, and so, as of this writing, he has enjoined the certification of the referendum. Like all other matters, this will ultimately be decided by the Virginia Supreme Court.

The fourth challenge takes aim at the proposed map itself. In Richmond Circuit Court a hearing was held on Monday and a ruling is pending. Challengers argue that the proposed congressional districts violate Article II, Section 6, of the Virginia Constitution, which requires that "every electoral district shall be composed of contiguous and compact territory." The compactness challenge is independent of the procedural claims—even if the amendment survives the Article XII challenges, the maps must still pass constitutional muster on their own terms. And these may be the most extremely gerrymandered maps in modern Virginia history.

So, what’s next? Based on ancient Virginia precedent, the Virginia Supreme Court allowed the vote to proceed but made clear it would take up the constitutional questions afterward. Briefs have been filed or are due shortly. The Tazewell and Richmond circuit court rulings will surely be appealed, funneling everything upward to the same seven justices in Richmond.

If the Virginia Supreme Court strikes down the amendment on any of the three procedural grounds, the referendum result is nullified. The bipartisan commission’s maps would remain in effect for 2026 and beyond. If the court upholds the amendment process but strikes down the maps on compactness grounds, the General Assembly would presumably need to draw new, less extreme maps. And if the court upholds everything, the new Democratic-drawn districts would reshape Virginia’s congressional delegation heading into the 2026 midterms.

Virginia’s Constitution has rules about how it may be changed, and those rules exist to prevent the kind of rushed, extreme rewrite that occurred here. Now it is up to the Virginia Supreme Court to decide whether the process that produced this referendum honored those rules — or broke them. Stay tuned!

Republicans are cheering a circuit court victory in Virginia that showed Democrats' redistricting efforts in Virginia are not quite over yet despite a referendum to accept a new map drawn by Democrats getting approved by voters Tuesday.

Virginia Circuit Court Judge Jack Hurley ruled Wednesday, one day after the Democrat redistricting referendum passed, that all votes for or against the proposed redistricting amendment were unconstitutional, citing rules that impose certain requirements that the referendum did not meet.

There are a handful of cases making their way through the Virginia court system challenging various aspects of the referendum, including the one Hurley ruled on Wednesday.

"The Tazewell Circuit Court just ruled the referendum unconstitutional. The Judge entered an injunction blocking certification of the election & denied a motion to stay pending appeal. A final order will be entered once drafted, & it will be immediately appealed," former Republican Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli said on X after Hurley's ruling.

Shortly after the ruling came down, Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones, a Democrat who beat GOP incumbent Jason Miyares in November, indicated his office will "immediately file an appeal."

Cuccinelli, who heads the American Principles Project Election Transparency Initiative, indicated Wednesday there are four constitutional challenges to the referendum making their way through the courts, three of which are challenges to the amendment process itself.

"Virginia has a process to amend its constitution that has the General Assembly pass a proposed amendment and then have a state election — an intervening election — where the new House of Delegates was elected and so forth. And then that new General Assembly comes back and has to pass the exact same amendment," Cuccinelli told CNN conservative commentator Scott Jennings on Wednesday.

"The General Assembly passed the amendment for the first time — called first passage, very creative — on Halloween. Well, these same Democrats, five years ago, gave us a 45-day election. So, voting began September 19 of 2025. Over a million people had already voted before first passage, and they want to treat that election as the intervening election. They're going to have a very difficult time with that."

Cuccinelli added that there are other "equally difficult" constitutional challenges Democrats are facing in this legal battle, which he said he expects to move quickly through the courts. Cuccinelli told Jennings he expects a final ruling on the matter by May.

Shortly after news of the Virginia circuit court ruling in Tazewell, Jones announced his office would be immediately appealing the measure. Jones argued that "an activist judge" should not have the power to veto "the People's vote."

"Virginia voters have spoken, and an activist judge should not have veto power over the People's vote," Jones said Wednesday after the ruling. "We look forward to defending the outcome of last night's election in court."

Democrat strategist Adam Parkhomenko echoed Jones' criticism after the news broke Wednesday but also said he has expectations that Republicans' legal challenges will not hold up in court.

What Virginia’s redistricting vote really means for Democrats and Republicans

Virginia Democrats got their number last night. But what they got was not a mandate, it was a margin. A razor-thin, 3-point squeaker that cost them $64 million in dark money to pull off, in a state where the governor won by 15 points just one year ago. If this is what victory looks like for Democrats, Republicans should be encouraged.

Let's be honest about what happened on April 21. Voters across Virginia were asked to ratify an amendment that a sitting circuit court judge had already declared void, not once, but twice, calling it a "blatant abuse of power." They were sold the word "fairness" on the ballot while Democrats designed a map that hands them 10 of Virginia's 11 congressional districts. They were told this was about the people's voice, funded by $93 million in largely anonymous cash, with $40 million flowing from House Democrat leadership's own political operation. If they were doing the right thing, they wouldn't have had to buy the election.

And the people of Virginia, particularly in rural communities, saw through it. Early voting was up across 70+ rural Republican localities. Lee County, Scott County, Alleghany County, communities that rarely make national headlines, turned out in force to say no to a gerrymander designed in a backroom by the same Richmond politicians who raised taxes and cultivated failing schools. That energy is real, it's not going away, and we are going to need it in November.

But Democrats’ celebrations of the vote might be premature. The vote is not the final word.

The Virginia Supreme Court has already told both sides exactly what comes next. Before allowing the referendum to proceed, the justices wrote that "if the electorate approves the proposed amendment, we then must exercise our constitutional duty to review lower courts' declaratory judgments... and address de novo what equitable remedies, if any, are appropriate." In plain English: the court reserved the right to strike this map down, and it set a briefing deadline for tomorrow, April 23. The legal fight is not over.

The constitutional defects here are not minor. Democrats jammed this amendment through a special session that was called exclusively to address the state budget, then expanded it to rewrite the rules of congressional representation. They skipped the required 90-day public notice. And they passed the amendment while over one million Virginians were already casting ballots in the 2025 general election, a direct violation of Virginia's constitutional requirement that amendments pass before an election takes place. A judge found all three violations. The Supreme Court of Virginia must now decide whether it will enforce its own constitution or stand down because Democrats ran a successful, and expensive, public pressure campaign.

Now, we have to trust the court to do its job.

And if the court does its job, Republicans must be ready to fight the next battle. The RNC, the NRCC and Congressmen Ben Cline and Morgan Griffith filed suit because the process was corrupt from the start, not because Republicans are afraid of competition. We are not afraid of competition. We are afraid of a system where constitutional guardrails are demolished whenever the other side decides they're inconvenient. Today it's Virginia. Tomorrow it's your state.

This is the broader war Democrats have declared. When President Donald Trump and Republican governors used the legal redistricting process to draw competitive maps in Texas, Missouri and North Carolina, Democrats screamed about gerrymandering. Then they turned around and drew a map in Virginia that is, by any objective measure, the most aggressively gerrymandered congressional map in the country. It splits Prince William County across five separate congressional districts as well as Fairfax County into five separate congressional districts.

Republican women across this country need to understand what is at stake. If this map stands, Democrats could pick up four House seats in Virginia alone, potentially enough to flip the majority and end the legislative agenda that is delivering for American families.

So here is my message to Republican women in Virginia and across the country: last night was a setback, not a surrender. The courts must consider the referendum’s wobbly constitutionality. Our lawyers are still fighting. Our voters showed up in record numbers in places no one expected. And when the Virginia Supreme Court issues its ruling, potentially within weeks, we need to be ready to mobilize, organize and amplify whatever comes next.

Virginia voters are set to decide a redistricting referendum Tuesday, even as a high-stakes legal challenge before the state’s Supreme Court argues the amendment should be invalidated because it was pushed through an unlawfully extended legislative session.

The case centers on whether lawmakers violated the Virginia Constitution by keeping the special session open for nearly two years to pass the redistricting measure, a move critics say was an abuse of legislative authority. The measure, if it passes Tuesday and survives state Supreme Court scrutiny, would reshape the state's congressional map so that Democrats have a 10-1 advantage in the upcoming midterms.

"The voters are the first hope that we have, and the best one," Jason Snead, executive director of Honest Elections Project Action, told 91�� Digital, warning that if the referendum passes, the Supreme Court decision could be "the last chance" before the next census to challenge the map.

Snead's group this week submitted a brief to Virginia's highest court making the case that the legislative special session was improperly extended.

"If you look at what the Constitution of Virginia requires … it’s very clear that what happened here was an illegally extended special session that essentially turned a part-time legislature into a full-time legislature," Snead said, noting how the amicus brief argues the lawmakers kept the session open for nearly two years.

Virginia Democrats, led by Gov. Abigail Spanberger and House Speaker Don Scott, passed an amendment this year that they argued allowed them to bypass the typical redistricting process in the state to shift the current 6-5 map to 10-1. Scott told reporters in February the move was a direct response to national redistricting fights playing out across the country.

"This is about leveling the playing field across the country. Republicans are gerrymandering maps to override the will of the voters," Scott said. "We just saw it in Texas, North Carolina and Missouri. At Donald Trump's direction they're manipulating election maps because they know they can't win on their agenda in 2026. ... A 10-1 map levels the playing field."

Democrats have argued to the Supreme Court that the General Assembly has broad constitutional authority to manage its own legislative sessions and procedures, including extending a special session, and that nothing in the Virginia Constitution explicitly prohibits how this particular session was handled.

The Honest Elections Project's brief argues otherwise.

"If you look at what the law requires, it's very clear that Governor Spanberger and her allies are steamrolling the process to try to launch a power grab," Snead said

SPANBERGER ONCE BLASTED GERRYMANDERING AND NOW BACKS AMENDMENT CRITICS SAY COULD ERASE VIRGINIA GOP

The Supreme Court decided in March to allow the referendum vote to move forward while it considers Republicans' arguments challenging how the map amendment was passed by way of a special session.

"It is the process, not the outcome, of this effort that we may ultimately have to address," the state's highest court found. "Issuing an injunction to keep Virginians from the polls is not the proper way to make this decision."

'Concerning': Ex-Biden official under fire as pay-to-play allegations emerge in top gubernatorial race

Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, a Democrat running for governor in Georgia, has faced ethics-related scrutiny during her time in government, but that hasn't stopped Bottoms' ambition for higher office.

Before launching her gubernatorial bid, Bottoms served as the senior adviser for public engagement in the Biden administration and previously drew criticism in Atlanta over her use of public resources while serving in city government — from taxpayer-funded mailers packed with photos of herself to city-paid travel expenses that initially covered her husband’s Super Bowl airfare.

Bottoms also drew criticism over her ties to a contractor that later landed lucrative city contracts after she signed an initial consulting contract with the firm while leading the Atlanta Fulton County Recreation Authority (AFCRA) and just days before leaving the city council as she was preparing to become mayor, with the company’s CEO later donating to and fundraising for her campaign.

Even with Atlanta's history of corruption scandals, former Atlanta City Council leader Jennifer Ide, who served as the head of a city council ethics committee while Bottoms was mayor, said the Democratic gubernatorial hopeful's past scandals, in particular her alleged pay-to-play scheme with a contractor, should be "concerning" for voters.

"I mean, I think it's concerning," Ide told 91�� Digital. "I don't think that the voters want to feel like special interests impact the outcome of an election."

As executive director of AFCRA, a position she held that earned her a six-figure salary even while also serving on the city council and running for mayor, Bottoms signed the first of three contracts for a company called Con-Real to do work for the city. The first contract, awarded in April 2017, was less than $100,000, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Just days later, she exited office as her mayoral run was heating up.

Meanwhile, in June 2017, roughly two months later, Con-Real won a second $2.4 million contract, despite the company's bid being about twice what its competitor bid, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The outlet added that both contracts appeared to have been executed without the recreation authority's board voting to approve it.

Ide, who has donated thousands of dollars to Democrats, said the absence of board approval was among the issues that made the Con-Real contracts appear troubling to people in the Atlanta government, though she said she was not familiar enough with AFCRA’s rules to say definitively whether any formal procurement rule had been broken. However, according to Kyle Gomez-Leineweber, policy director at watchdog Common Cause Georgia, AFCRA did amend its contracting process following the controversy with Bottoms.

"There were serious concerns that were raised around ethics," he added.

Con-Real founder and CEO, Gerald Alley, reportedly held a fundraiser for Bottoms' mayoral campaign in August 2017, and campaign finance records showed he also donated close to $4,000 to Bottoms' mayoral campaign just days after winning the lucrative contract.

The subsequent year, in 2018, while Bottoms was mayor, Con-Real won a third contract for $1.4 million. Again, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, they were the highest bidder.

"It sure looked fishy that Con-Real l was not the lowest bidder," Ide pointed out. "I don't know exactly what the procurement rules are for the recreation authority, but for the city, the lowest responsive bidder is who would have needed to have been selected."

In June 2025, less than a month after Bottoms announced her bid for governor, Alley donated the maximum allowable amount for a primary election of $8,400, campaign finance records show.

"I really believe that as people start to dig under the surface, they’re going to see that she’s not fit for office," Humberto Garcia, a Democrat who lives in Atlanta and founded the anti-Buckhead City movement Neighbors for a United Atlanta, said.

Beyond the Con-Real matter, Bottoms’ record already includes a string of ethics-related incidents, including a $37,000 state ethics fine over campaign-finance violations, questions over taxpayer-funded campaign-season mailers packed with photos of herself, and backlash over using public funds for certain expenses, including airfare for her husband’s Super Bowl trip and thousands of dollars in limousine spending.

Both Ide and Garcia lamented that Bottoms, as mayor, was "absent-minded," and they questioned whether she would do what is in the best interest for Georgians if elected governor.

"If you’re going to run for the highest office in the state, there needs to be no questions about whether you’re being influenced by your campaign donations in that kind of way," Ide told 91�� Digital.

The Democratic primary for Georgia's gubernatorial race will take place on May 19. Currently, Bottoms is leading in most major polls, with former Georgia General Assemblyman and Chief Executive Officer of DeKalb County Michael Thurmond coming in second in many of the same polls, per The New York Times.

In response to this reporting, a Bottoms campaign spokesperson slammed her Democratic primary opponents for "dredging up recycled stories and unfounded accusations."

"Keisha has a commanding lead in the polls and it is no surprise that people who endorsed her primary opponents are dredging up recycled stories and unfounded accusations from last decade in a desperate attempt to lift up their chosen candidate’s lagging campaign," TaNisha Cameron, Keisha for Governor campaign spokesperson, said in a statement to 91�� Digital.

Ide has posted photos online campaigning with former Georgia state senator and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jason Esteves, and Garcia endorsed Esteves in 2025, per reporting from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Cameron added in her statement that Bottoms was "applauded for ethics and transparency" during her former tenure as mayor.

"As mayor, Keisha created an independent Inspector General, implemented city credit card reforms, appointed a Chief Transparency Officer, and launched Atlanta’s Open Checkbook online portal so taxpayers could see all city spending for themselves. Her administration took historic steps to strengthen oversight and make city government more open to the public," she argued, adding that Bottoms also won an award for "leading major transparency reform" from the Georgia First Amendment Foundation called the "Charles L. Weltner Freedom of Information Award."

Why Eric Swalwell was forced to quit California governor’s race after sexual misconduct allegations

Eric Swalwell was so close to becoming California’s governor that he was practically measuring the drapes.

And then, suddenly, it all came crashing down, thanks to his own egregious conduct.

Last night, after desperately trying to hang on, Swalwell suspended his campaign. He was delusional if he thought he could keep running. He finally faced the inevitable music.

The Democratic congressman didn't have much choice. His own party, led by Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Adam Schiff and Speaker Hakeem Jeffries, was demanding that he drop out of the race.

SWALWELL FACES EXPULSION EFFORT FOLLOWING BOMBSHELL ASSAULT ALLEGATIONS

He was denying many of the specifics when it came to sexually abusing women on his staff, but his candidacy was clearly toast. His campaign chairman immediately resigned. The state teachers’ union withdrew its support. The service employees’ union suspended its campaign activities.

In a video Friday night, Swalwell seemed to soften his denials:

"I do not suggest to you in any way that I’m perfect or that I’m a saint. I have certainly made mistakes in judgment in my past, but those mistakes are between me and my wife and to her, I apologize deeply for putting her in this position."

Nobody’s buying that. When you’re a public figure with three children, it’s not just between you and your spouse. It’s also between you and the voters.

SWALWELL ATTORNEY DENIES MISCONDUCT, SAYS CONGRESSMAN TOOK ACCOUNTABILITY FOR 'LAPSES IN JUDGMENT'

Why, knowing of the intense scrutiny a gubernatorial candidate faces, would Swalwell allegedly engage in sex with staffers, given the stark power imbalance between a member of Congress and starstruck young women?

When Swalwell says all this emerged to torpedo his frontrunner campaign – "these allegations are false" – he is probably right. But he put the target on his own back.

Actually, a bandwagon running on four flat tires may be the least of the candidate’s problems. The Manhattan district attorney’s office confirms that it has opened an investigation into some of the allegations, and openly invited "survivors and anyone with knowledge of these allegations" to get in touch with its special victims unit.

What’s more, both House and campaign staffers for Swalwell gave news outlets an unsigned letter saying they’re "horrified" by the allegations, calling them "abhorrent, beneath the dignity of those serving in public office," which "betrays the trust of all Californians." And one Republican representative, Anna Paulina Luna, is pushing for the House to expel him.

The media have clearly been driving the disclosures about the congressman, who represents the San Francisco area. One of the other two major Democratic candidates – former Congresswoman Katie Porter or billionaire Tom Steyer – will inherit the frontrunner’s mantle.

In California’s "jungle primary," the top two finishers make it to the fall ballot, regardless of party. President Trump has already endorsed former British politician and 91�� host Steve Hilton. But in the bluest of blue states, the Democratic candidate is virtually assured of winning.

SWALWELL CALLS SEXUAL MISCONDUCT ALLEGATIONS 'FLAT OUT FALSE,' SAYS HE WILL FIGHT THEM 'WITH EVERYTHING'

The San Francisco Chronicle conducted a series of interviews with a woman who said Swalwell had assaulted her twice when she was too drunk to consent, including one encounter when he was her boss.

The woman did not report the alleged assaults because she didn’t think she’d be believed, according to the Chronicle, which viewed texts that she sent to a friend at the time, and medical records showing she sought pregnancy and STD testing days after the alleged 2024 assault.

CNN also reported on this woman, along with three others who accused Swalwell of various kinds of sexual misconduct. The woman was shown in shadow to protect her identity and said she felt comfortable meeting Swalwell – after a 2019 drunken encounter – because she now had a partner and felt more confident:

"After that bar closed, we went to another, I went to the bathroom, and I don’t remember anything after that… I remember the next day, I can see flashes of that evening of him on top of me, me pushing him off, him grabbing me. It was a lot more aggressive. It was aggressive."

"Did you say no?" asked anchor Pamela Brown.

"Yes. I said no. I said I — in my flash that I can recall, I was pushing him off of me saying no."

What did he do?

"He didn’t stop."

The unidentified woman said that in 2019, when she was still working for Swalwell, she woke up naked with him in a hotel room after a night of heavy drinking. She said she had no memory of what happened but could feel physically that they’d had sexual contact.

CNN reported that three other women said Swalwell sent them unsolicited explicit messages or nude photos.

The New York Times interviewed a social media influencer named in the CNN report, Ally Sammarco, who said the congressman sent her inappropriate messages on Snapchat in 2021. Snapchat content is programmed to disappear after a short period of time.

Sammarco, now 28, told the paper that Swalwell told her she was attractive and asked about alcohol.

"A lot of it was like photos of him going on trips, on airplanes, in hotels, him laying in bed, and then like things like, ‘What would you do if I was, like, with you’ or, like, ‘Wish you were here,’" Sammarco told the paper, adding that he also sent an unsolicited photo of his penis.

"It made me feel gross and uncomfortable. I didn’t ask for that," Sammarco is quoted as saying. While posting pictures of the birth of his third baby, she says, he was messaging her: "When am I going to see you?"

Sammarco says she finally stopped responding after realizing the congressman wasn’t going to help her find a job.

Politico, meanwhile, reports that a former Swalwell employee, upon leaving his office, signed an agreement that required confidentiality and non-disparagement. This was related to workplace discrimination, not sexual harassment. A spokesman had denied that the office had used any NDAs.

A Swalwell attorney sent letters to two of the women cited by CNN, demanding they retract their statements or face possible legal action.

These letters said the women’s claims were "undermined" by their "voluntary and cooperative relationship with Mr. Swalwell over the course of many years," including the former staffer asking him for job references.

I guess those letters are now moot. You think?

Had the allegations been made by just one woman, it would have been easier for the candidate to dismiss. It’s not like sexual accusations haven’t been made against Trump and the term-limited governor and 2028 contender Gavin Newsom, which he has admitted.

Even a close personal friend of Swalwell, Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego, pulled his endorsement, calling the conduct "indefensible."

Watchdog, GOP lawmaker warn NY voter registration systems lacks key safeguards

One blue state is failing to enact adequate voting safeguards and refusing to correct its mistakes ahead of November’s midterm elections, an election integrity watchdog warns.

Restoring Integrity and Trust in Elections (RITE), a nonpartisan organization focused on election security, alleges the New York State Board of Elections (NYSBOE) stonewalled a request to fix the state’s voter registration form to comply with federal voting law.

The watchdog sent the NYSBOE a letter in late 2025 outlining several violations they claimed could undermine the state’s election integrity if left unaddressed.

After the board failed to correct most of the violations, RITE and Tenney are demanding the board hand over comprehensive records and data to identify additional shortcomings in the state's voter registration system.

"Your lack of a response is troubling and disregards the need to ensure public trust that New York is maintaining accurate voter rolls as required by federal law," they wrote in a letter to the NYSBOE earlier this week that was obtained by 91�� Digital.

If the board does not meet their May 2026 deadline, RITE and Tenney say they are prepared to go to federal court to enforce compliance with federal law.

The watchdog alleges two errors in New York State’s voter registration forms that violate the Help America Vote Act (HAVA).

First, New York State did not instruct individuals that they must provide their driver’s license information if they have one. It also continued registering individuals who did not provide a driver’s license, the last four digits of their Social Security number or a declaration that the applicant has neither, as required by federal law.

These errors have, in part, led to millions of New York voters providing incomplete information during the registration process, making it more difficult for the state to accurately maintain voter lists, according to RITE.

RITE and and Tenney also allege the board did not perform a requested audit to identify how many incomplete voter registration applications have been processed.

A 2022 report from the conservative Public Interest Legal Foundation found that at least 3.1 million New York registered voters have not provided a driver’s license or Social Security number on their application form.

"The law is clear: states may not accept registration forms that lack required identifying information," RITE President Justin Riemer said in a statement. New York’s own regulations direct officials to do exactly that. This flagrant violation of an important federal safeguard significantly erodes the integrity of New York’s voter registration system."

"We are committed to getting answers about the breadth of the problem and ensuring the state fixes it," Riemer added.

Tenney, who is chair of the Election Integrity Caucus, said she has called for an investigation into the NYSBOE since 2022.

"Transparency and accurate voter rolls are essential to maintaining public trust in our elections," the New York Republican said in a statement. "The people of New York deserve answers, accountability, and full compliance with HAVA to ensure the integrity of every vote."

The New York City Board of Elections system has also come under recent scrutiny for failing to enact adequate safeguards.

One of its employees declined to block a reporter who was posing as a noncitizen from attempting to register to vote, according to video footage obtained by 91�� Digital in February.

Swalwell's former female staffer drops bombshell allegations of sexual assault, exposing himself: report

Sexual harassment allegations have been amplified online by Democrat-aligned politicos targeting Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., one of the leading Democratic candidates in California's gubernatorial race.

Amid repeated denials and cease-and-desist letters sent by Swalwell's lawyer, one of the alleged victims shared her story publicly for the first time, accusing Swalwell of taking advantage of her while she was intoxicated on multiple occasions, according to a bombshell report published by the San Francisco Chronicle Friday.

The alleged victim's story also included claims that Swalwell pressured her to send naked pictures of herself and sent sexually explicit photos of his own, pulled out his private parts while driving in a car with her and requested she perform oral sex on him, among other incidents the victim said affected how Swalwell treated her professionally.

DEM SENATOR RIPPED FOR ‘SMEAR’ OF FEMALE ACTIVIST ADVOCATING FOR SWALWELL'S ACCUSERS

The unnamed female accuser, who spoke to the San Francisco Chronicle, reportedly worked for Swalwell for about two years and revealed that he started pursuing her, despite being married, shortly after she was hired as a 21-year-old staffer in his district office.

On multiple occasions, the young staffer recalls blacking out from alcohol consumption, before waking up naked in Swalwell's hotel bed with signs she had engaged in intercourse. Swalwell allegedly distanced himself after the incident, and their relationship faded, before they reunited when she no longer worked for him when another incident allegedly took place.

"Eric Swalwell should immediately drop out," Democratic strategist Bhavik Lathia said after the San Francisco Chronicle's report dropped. "It is damning."

Matt Mahan, a former San Jose Mayor and fellow Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate in California, also called on Swalwell to "drop out."

"To the survivor who risked everything to come forward – I believe you," Mahan said. "To the Democratic Party – you’d better hold him accountable.

"If we don’t, we have no credibility asking anyone else to do the same."

Sen. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., a longtime friend of Swalwell who faced backlash earlier this week for trying to discredit allegations against the California Democrat, posted on Friday that he "regret[s] having come to his defense on social media prior to knowing all the information. I am equally as shocked and upset about what has transpired."

"What is described is indefensible. Women who come forward with accounts like this deserve to be heard with respect, not questioned or dismissed," Gallego said. "I am withdrawing my endorsement of Congressman Swalwell, effective immediately."

Swalwell's team did not respond to 91��' request for comment, but he recently said during a press gaggle that the allegations are "false," including allegations that Swalwell previously pressured female staffers to sign non-disclosure agreements so they cannot speak out or that he was involved in an alleged hush money settlement.

"It's false. And also some of the allegations I've seen, which is that we've had NDAs in the office – never. There's never been an allegation, and there's never been a settlement," Swalwell insisted this week.

"This false, outrageous rumor is being spread 27 days before an election begins by flailing opponents who have sadly teamed up with MAGA conspiracy theorists because they know Eric Swalwell is the frontrunner in this race," Micah Beasley, a spokesperson for Swalwell, also said Tuesday.

Cheyenne Hunt, a former Capitol Hill staffer who is a nonprofit director at the group Gen-Z for Change, is among the voices acting as a proxy for alleged Swalwell accusers and has been helping amplify their stories.

On Friday, she blasted Swalwell for "tak[ing] a page out of the Trump playbook by attempting to silence women" with cease-and-desist letters he allegedly sent out late Thursday night ahead of the San Francisco Chronicle's report sharing a first-hand account from one of Swalwell's alleged accusers.

The alleged victim, who began working for Swalwell during his short-lived presidential campaign in 2019, said a married Swalwell, who was 38, began pursuing her, including through messages on Snapchat, which allows users to send photos that subsequently disappear after someone has looked at them.

She claimed the relationship rapidly progressed as Swalwell began asking for pictures of her face, then her naked body and eventually her genitalia. When messaging, the victim alleged Swalwell would sometimes send shirtless selfies or other images of his own genitalia.

Swalwell then allegedly tried to kiss the victim in her car when she drove him home from a donor meeting one night. On another occasion, he allegedly pulled out his penis while in the vehicle and asked her to perform oral sex on him. She admitted to doing so in a parking lot but soon stopped out of fear someone might see them.

In September 2019, the alleged victim, who was then working in Swalwell's Castro Valley district office, reportedly said Swalwell invited her out for dinner and drinks when she drank too much and blacked out.

She claimed to have not even remembered leaving the restaurant but woke up in Swalwell's hotel room the next day with vaginal soreness indicative of sexual intercourse. She also reportedly had a brief memory of Swalwell sucking her toes.

After the alleged September 2019 incident in Swalwell's hotel room, the victim said the pair's relationship faded as Swalwell distanced himself from her and began treating her more formally during public interactions. She eventually stopped working for Swalwell but stayed in politics and noted Swalwell would occasionally remain in touch with her, including reaching out when she was looking for a job.

However, she claimed that, five years later, while attending an April 2024 charity event Swalwell was being honored at, the pair reunited. She was not working for Swalwell at this later date, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The woman indicated that she and Swalwell went out for drinks after the event, during which she once again became inebriated and could only remember bits and pieces about the night.

"Even though he had hurt me in the past, I felt like he was someone I could trust," the alleged victim said, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "Because we shared this secret together, it pulled me closer to him."

According to the San Francisco Chronicle's reporting on the alleged victim's experiences, one moment she did remember from the night was pushing Swalwell away and telling him "no" as he allegedly tried to force her to have sex with him. The woman reportedly texted a friend after the incident telling her she had been sexually assaulted by Swalwell. Other messages reviewed by the San Francisco Chronicle reportedly showed the victim indicating she had "blacked out" but "woke up once during it and even told him to stop at one point."

"This happened one other time when I was working with him, but I convinced myself I was an equal party in it even though same pattern: I blacked out and he had sex with me," the alleged victim wrote, referring to the 2019 incident, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's reporting.

The outlet also indicated it spoke with the friend the victim was allegedly texting and the woman's boyfriend whom she reportedly told about the assault the next day. The boyfriend reportedly encouraged her to report Swalwell at the time.

However, she did not go to the authorities at the time, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, because she was afraid she would not be believed. Medical records reportedly showed she did obtain a pregnancy and STD test a week after the incident.

Swalwell subsequently messaged the alleged victim after the 2024 incident and told her not to tell anyone about their interaction that night, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

"He even sent me a message: you said you didn’t remember anything last time i hope you do now," the alleged victim reportedly texted her friend three days after the incident. "And i said: yeah I’m trying to forget thanks."

"He was sending messages like we just had a romantic encounter like he knows what he’s doing," the alleged victim also allegedly wrote to her friend at the time. "He was gaslighting me into thinking it was consensual."

Swalwell's alleged victim began talking to the San Francisco news outlet roughly a month ago, while weighing whether to go public with her allegations as they began anonymously surfacing online.

The victim was confused how the rumors began, considering she only told family and a small group of friends about the incident. The victim reportedly called the Swalwell campaign in March to see if her name had surfaced among the rumored victims, and one of Swalwell's staffers reportedly asked her to vouch for Swalwell.

"He was so confident that I would stay silent that he wasn’t scared," she said of Swalwell.

"I have no skin in the game of who becomes governor of California, but I feel people have a right to know whether the person who leads a state that is a safe haven for so many women actually treats women with dignity and will protect their rights," the woman, who still works on Capitol Hill, said, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

"No one protected me from him, and so I have to protect the other young women like me who aspire to work in this field and he could prey upon."

Late Thursday night, Swalwell's attorney, Elias Dabaie, sent a cease-and-desist letter that Hunt, one of the individuals amplifying Swalwell's accuser's claims, argues is an effort to intimidate those trying to speak up about Swalwell's history with women.

"Today we learned [Swalwell] is intimidating survivors, serving cease and desist letters on those coming forward with stories of sexual harassment and abuse. He sent this threat in the dead of night — another attempt to delay the truth," Hunt wrote on social media, attaching a copy of the first letter of the cease and desist letter she claimed to have obtained.

"This is what it looks like when powerful men get caught," Hunt continued. "These cease and desists are a disgusting abuse of power against brave women who are courageously working together to share their stories. It begs the question: if Swalwell has done nothing wrong, as his campaign claims, why not let the women tell their stories in the light of day? Our team remains steadfast. We will not relent. The women will not recant."

The Los Angeles Times reported Friday that it had confirmed the authenticity of the letter. 91�� Digital reached out to the attorney who sent the letter to confirm the authenticity of the letter independently but did not immediately receive a response.

After the San Francisco Chronicle's report Friday, CNN published a separate report indicating three other women it had spoken to also alleged various kinds of sexual misconduct by the Democratic congressman, including Swalwell sending them unsolicited explicit messages or nude photos.

Supreme Court blocks candidate after alleged GOP infiltration scheme exposed

The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a self-described "progressive" candidate’s bid to enter Ohio’s Republican primary, leaving in place a decision by state election officials to disqualify him for misrepresenting his party affiliation.

Samuel Ronan, a former Democratic state and national candidate, attempted to run as a Republican in Ohio’s 15th Congressional District against GOP incumbent Rep. Mike Carey. To do so, he signed a declaration of candidacy — under penalty of election falsification — swearing he was a member of the Republican Party.

However, court documents filed in U.S. District Court note Ronan was caught publicly admitting that his candidacy was part of a calculated strategy to run Democrats as Republicans in "deep red districts" to "get a foot in the door."

A Republican voter, Mark Schare, filed a protest with the Franklin County Board of Elections, presenting social media posts and interviews as evidence of Ronan's scheme to "trick" GOP voters.

Ronan claimed in his application he did not lie about his affiliation, citing similar party deviations by politicians, including former President Ronald Reagan, President Donald Trump and "hundreds of others," according to a report from Courthouse News Service.

After the election board tied along party lines, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose stepped in to toss Ronan off the ballot.

LaRose said the case was a matter of "the integrity of the electoral process," slamming Ronan's alleged mission to infiltrate the party, according to court filings.

Chief U.S. District Judge Sarah D. Morrison swiftly rejected Ronan's arguments, ruling the First Amendment does not protect a candidate who submits a fraudulent declaration of candidacy.

"It cannot be the case that a State must allow a candidate on a partisan ballot even if he lied about his party affiliation simply because the First Amendment is implicated," Morrison wrote in her opinion.

Morrison also dismissed Ronan's claims that a Republican elections board member was unconstitutionally biased against him, finding that political association does not prove a risk of bias.

RNC takes Virginia to court, blasts ‘nonresident voting’ loophole in election fight

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is leading a lawsuit against Virginia, accusing the state of violating state law by allegedly accepting ballots from people who have never lived in the state.

Under federal law, military service members stationed overseas and their spouses are allowed to cast absentee ballots based upon the state of their last residence.

But a Virginia statute allows voters who have never lived in the state to cast a ballot based on Virginia being their parent’s last eligible voting location.

The lawsuit comes just months away from a contentious midterm election cycle as the Republican Party fights to keep control of both chambers of Congress.

HOUSE OVERSIGHT PROBE PUTS MINNESOTA ELECTIONS UNDER SCRUTINY OVER NONCITIZEN VOTING CONCERNS

This lawsuit is the fourth filed by the RNC contesting loopholes in state laws that allow both children of military service members and children of former Virginia residents living abroad to vote in elections even if they have never lived in the state. In addition to Virginia, 27 other states permit "nonresidents" to vote in both state and federal elections based on their parents’ last place of residence.

"The Virginia Constitution clearly states you must show proof of residency in order to vote in Virginia elections, so what we're trying to do here at the RNC is make sure that Virginia elections are truly for Virginians and close that loophole where people who have never even lived in the state or sometimes even the country so they cannot register to vote in Virginia," RNC Election Integrity Communications Director Ally Triolo told 91�� Digital.

Roughly 2.8 million American citizens older than the age of 18 live abroad, according to the Federal Voting Assistance Program. It is unclear how many of them voted who have never lived in the United States, but the RNC said it is actively looking at state voter rolls.

The RNC, RITE PAC and conservative grassroots organizer Matthew Hurtt filed for injunctive relief in the Circuit Court for the City of Richmond, Virginia, against the Virginia State Board of Elections and the Virginia Department of Elections Monday.

"People who have never lived in Virginia — or even in the United States — should not be voting in Virginia’s elections," Republican Party Chairman Joe Gruters said in a statement to 91�� Digital.

"Virginia officials are ignoring the Virginia Constitution and allowing ineligible voters to cast ballots. The RNC and RITE PAC are taking this action to enforce the law and ensure nonresidents are not diluting the votes of Virginians."

Hurtt, who also serves as the chairman of the Arlington GOP, referred 91�� Digital to an email he sent to Arlington GOP committee members, explaining why he joined the lawsuit.

"Through this lawsuit, we are asking the court to declare the relevant statutes unconstitutional and to require election officials to limit voting to individuals who meet Virginia’s residency requirements," Hurtt wrote.

"This effort is about ensuring that Virginia elections are conducted in accordance with the Constitution and that the rules governing voter eligibility are applied consistently and lawfully."

VOTER-ROLL SCRUTINY ESCALATES IN MINNESOTA AS BIGGEST COUNTIES FACE SWEEPING RECORDS DEMANDS

The lawsuit named seven elected officials as defendants as well, including Fairfax County, Virginia, Electoral Board General Registrar Eric Spicer. Fairfax, Virginia, GOP Chairman Steve Knotts previously praised Spicer for his efforts to strengthen election integrity in the county.

"Defendant Spicer has registered voters who stated on their registration forms: 'I am a U.S. citizen living outside the country, I have never lived in the United States.' This practice violates the Virginia Constitution," the lawsuit stated.

The RNC did not provide an estimate when 91�� Digital asked how many people may have voted this way in Virginia.

Similar lawsuits have been filed by the RNC against Michigan, Arizona and North Carolina over election officials counting ballots from "never residents."

During litigation, state officials in North Carolina pointed to both the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA), a federal law, and a state law, the Uniform Military and Overseas Voters Act (UMOVA), in support of allowing nonresidents to vote.

The UMOVA granted a provision allowing for individuals born overseas to former North Carolina residents to vote in the state.

But in April 2025, an appeals court in North Carolina ruled in favor of the RNC, determining that the state's election board was violating the state Constitution by allowing voters who never lived in the state. State officials appealed the decision to North Carolina's Supreme Court, but the case was dismissed.

"We fought this in North Carolina," Triolo said. "We had a successful win, and we have two more active cases fighting the same fight in Arizona and Michigan. We are committed at the RNC to stopping any abuse of our elections. We know that voters deserve free, fair, and secure elections. So the RNC is confident with its win that we already had on this issue. We'll continue to see more wins moving forward."

Triolo shared with 91�� Digital that the RNC has more than 120 active lawsuits across the country in its fight to close loopholes and strengthen election integrity.

"The RNC is fighting tooth and nail to protect the ballot box," Triolo said. "This is one of our key priorities here, which is ensuring that our elections are fair, they're free, they're transparent, they are secure."

The Virginia Department of Elections declined to comment.

Liberals tighten grip on battleground state Supreme Court in low-key but high-stakes election

Liberals expanded their majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court in an election Tuesday, strengthening control in a key battleground state, in a ballot box showdown that drew limited national attention but had plenty riding on the results.

Wisconsin Appeals Court Judge Chris Taylor, a former democratic state representative, defeated Appeals Court Judge Maria Lazar, a conservative, the Associated Press reports.

Taylor will succeed a retiring conservative justice and with the victory, liberals will expand their majority on the state Supreme Court to 5-2.

While officially a non-partisan contest, state Supreme Court elections in Wisconsin have become extremely partisan in recent election cycles.

PRIMARY PAUSE, POLITICAL FIRESTORM: HIGH-STAKES ELECTIONS THIS MONTH TAKE CENTER STAGE

With the court's majority on the line in last year's contest, outside money poured in and out-of-state door knockers blanketed Wisconsin. One of the biggest spenders was Trump ally Elon Musk, who headlined a rally days before the election and donned a cheesehead hat worn by fans of the Green Bay Packers. Musk also personally handed out $1 million checks to voters.

The liberal candidate won that election by a larger-than-expected margin to capture a 4-3 majority on the state Supreme Court.

Since the majority wasn't at stake in this year's showdown, the campaign battle wasn't showered with national resources, money, or attention.

"Tonight the people of Wisconsin stood up for our courts and freedoms, our democracy, our elections and a strong state Supreme Court that will protect the independence of our beloved state," Taylor told supporters at her victory celebration.

Lazar, in her concession speech, told supporters that "the fight is not over and we will keep fighting for our courts because they are that important."

With most votes tallied, Taylor held a larger than expected 19-point margin over Lazar. And national Democrats were quick to tout the over performance.

"Wisconsin voters showed up and sent another big message to Republicans, securing a liberal majority until 2030!" Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin said in a social media post."

Liberals took control of the state Supreme Court in 2023, ending a decade and a half of conservative control. Since taking the majority, the liberals have reversed several election-related rulings by the prior conservative majority, including one that banned absentee ballot drop boxes.

This year's campaign focused on abortion rights, congressional redistricting, and union rights cases that will likely come in front of the state Supreme Court.

FIRST ON FOX: Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford, a Democrat running for governor of Nevada in November, has racked up hundreds of thousands of dollars in travel costs since assuming office, prompting criticism from his political rivals as he pursues re-election in 2026.

State records indicate that Ford spent close to $270,000 on airfare and out-of-state hotel stays since assuming office in 2019. When combined with over $140,000 Ford accepted from group-sponsored travel and lodging, such as the Democratic Attorneys General Association, his total travel amounts to over $410,000 in trips over seven years.

In 2024 alone, Ford spent $60,730 on trips to 16 different cities, including $2,819 on a trip to Secrets Puerto Los Cabos, a luxury resort in Mexico, and another $11,992 at Martha’s Vineyard, a top vacation spot that attracts a wealthy clientele.

While it's unclear how much of the figure represents in-state travel, the numbers dovetail with reports that Ford spent as much as 137 days away from his state in 2024, a figure confirmed by his office.

SENATE HOPEFUL WITH DEEP DEM TIES HAS PAID FAMILY OVER $350K FROM HIS CAMPAIGN COFFERS

Additionally, Ford’s record of hotel travel stays since his election indicate he has spent almost 20% of his career as Nevada AG out of the state, based on reporting from The Nevada Independent that found Ford spent at least 420 days out of state during his time in office.

To at least one Republican strategist, the costs and time away exceed what’s likely necessary for the job.

"High-Flying Aaron Ford has treated his position as attorney general like a part-time job, vacationing on the dime of special interests and campaign donors for well over a year of his tenure," John Burke, spokesman for Better Nevada PAC, said in a comment to 91�� Digital.

Ford is also under investigation by the Nevada Commission on Ethics over whether he solicited improper gifts or used his office to improperly benefit himself, according to documents recovered by local outlets.

John Sadler, a spokesperson for the attorney general's office, noted that the reported travel falls under campaign events and would not draw from state funding. At the same time, Sadler noted that Ford traveled to perform his role and coordinate with law enforcement offices across the country. Under Nevada state law, candidates are allowed to use campaign funds to conduct official business.

"He attended several meetings for bipartisan groups, such as NAAG and AGA, an organization that Attorney General Ford was voted by his attorneys general colleagues to serve as chair of in 2024," Sadler said, referring to the National Association of Attorneys General and the Attorney General Alliance, respectively.

"These events allowed AG Ford to discuss critical issues for Nevadans, such as human and sex trafficking, cybercrime and fraud and the opioid crisis," Sadler added.

Before becoming attorney general, Ford served in the Nevada State Legislature, leading the chamber as majority leader from 2017-2019. Before that, he served as minority leader from 2015-2016 and as an assistant majority whip from 2013-2014.

Ford’s travel habits didn’t start off expensive. In 2019 and 2020, his travel outside of Nevada totaled less than $15,000 each year but increased significantly soon after. He spent $29,189 outside of Nevada in 2021 and then $52,630 in 2022.

While past attorneys general have also conducted out-of-state travel, Ford stands out when compared to his predecessor, Adam Laxalt, a Republican.

In his last year as AG, Laxalt spent under $5,000 out of state, less than 1% of his total expenses that year.

Ford's Republican opponent, Gov. Joe Lombardo, reacted to the news via a statement from his campaign.

"Governor Joe Lombardo has delivered real results for Nevada: creating over 40,000 new jobs, driving billions in record economic investment, securing historic funding for education, expanding attainable housing and cutting hundreds of burdensome regulations , all while showing up every day to get the job done," Halee Dobbins, spokeswoman for the Joe Lombardo Campaign, told 91�� Digital.

"While our state is moving in the right direction, Governor Lombardo is committed to building on this progress and continuing to improve the lives of all Nevadans. Meanwhile, while hardworking Nevada families are struggling, Part-Time Aaron Ford has spent 420 days on special interest-funded travel and collecting a taxpayer-funded salary. Aaron Ford’s record makes clear he’s focused on himself, not the people he was elected to serve."

Burke blasted Ford for failing to provide reasons for the travel expenses or contextualize his time away from the office.

"Now, as he faces legal jeopardy from the Nevada Commission on Ethics, he still refuses to be transparent with the people of our state about his outrageous travel spree. Ford has disgraced his office and made a mockery of public service; he has no business leading Nevada," Burke said.

President Donald Trump confirmed he voted by mail in Florida's special election Tuesday, but he pivoted from the media attack point to note his mail-in ballot reform agenda provides for "exceptions" — and not only because he has the privilege of being president.

"Yeah, I did," Trump shot back at a reporter Thursday at his second Cabinet meeting of 2026. "You know what? Because I'm president of the United States."

"And because of the fact that I'm president of the United States, I did a mail-in ballot for elections that took place in Florida because I felt I should be here instead of being in the beautiful sunshine."

The reporter noted Trump was at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, before the Palm Beach County election held Tuesday for a state senator and a state representative.

"That's right, and I decided that I was going to vote by mail-in ballot because I couldn't be there," Trump said, adding, "I had a lot of different things" going on.

Trump was at Mar-a-Lago for the weekend, in Memphis, Tennessee, on Monday for a forum on crime, and then back in Washington, D.C., for the rest of the week, including delivering a speech to the National Republican Congressional Committee on Wednesday night.

Still, Trump proudly reminded the reporter, he is not being hypocritical in rebuking mail-in ballot fraud while voting by mail.

"As President Trump has said, the SAVE America Act has commonsense exceptions for Americans to use mail-in ballots for illness, disability, military, or travel – but universal mail-in voting should not be allowed because it’s highly susceptible to fraud," White House spokesperson Olivia Wales wrote in an email earlier this week.

It was not the first time Trump has voted by mail. He voted by absentee ballot in the 2018 midterm elections, a White House spokesperson said at the time. Trump had requested an absentee ballot but decided to vote in person in 2020.

Top Republican in the North Carolina Senate Phil Berger conceded his GOP primary race Tuesday after a second recount left him behind by a mere 23 votes, ending Berger’s long hold on the Triad-area seat and setting up a leadership shake-up in a key battleground state.

"While this was a close race, the voters have spoken, and I congratulate Sheriff Page on his victory," Berger wrote in a statement Tuesday after the results of the second recount confirmed Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page won the District 26 race.

"Over the past 15 years, Republicans in the General Assembly have fundamentally redefined our state's outlook and reputation. It has been an honor to play a role in that transformation."

Berger’s defeat is a major upset in North Carolina politics, particularly after President Donald Trump had endorsed him and fellow state Republicans had reportedly urged Page to end the primary challenge. Unofficial state election results showed Page with 13,135 to Berger's 13,112.

Berger has led the Senate since 2011 and has been one of the state's most influential Republican figures, while Page's narrow win is expected to usher in a new era of GOP leadership in the General Assembly.

Berger will remain in office until January, presiding over the state Senate in one of the nation's biggest political battleground states.

"Looking ahead, I remain committed to working with my colleagues in the short session to ensure North Carolina continues to be the best state in the nation in which to live, work, raise a family, and retire," Berger's concession statement concluded. "In the months ahead, I will also do everything I can to support all Republican Senate candidates and protect our supermajority."

Trump's endorsement came several weeks after the legislature redrew the state's U.S. House district map in an attempt to flip a Democrat seat amid the ongoing fight to retain the narrow GOP House majority in this year's midterm elections.

Unofficial results on primary election night showed Page leading Berger by just two votes out of more than 26,000 counted in the 26th Senate District that includes part of Greensboro and neighboring areas.

Page’s lead expanded as elections boards in the two counties within the district reviewed provisional, absentee and other ballots. Later recounts were conducted and Berger’s campaign filed formal protests. But Berger gave up after a hand recount of a small portion of the ballots Tuesday morning showed no change in Page’s razor-thin lead.

"I thank him for wishing me the best moving forward," Page said in a statement after Berger called him to concede. "Now it’s time for our community to come together and focus on winning in November."

Page will now advance to the November general election in the GOP-leaning district against Democrat Steve Luking, whom Berger defeated in 2024.

A Florida GOP gubernatorial candidate is pushing a "permanent" federal ban on Muslim immigration, arguing Islam is incompatible with American law and values.

Former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner, who launched his gubernatorial bid in the Sunshine State last summer, said Tuesday he would propose and promote a federal ban on Muslim immigration that is "permanent and comprehensive."

"We have to be realistic and be honest that the long-term compatibility of Islam in this country does not exist," he said. "We cannot have long-term compatibility with the American Constitution and with the American way of life."

Renner added that anyone with terrorist ties, who has defrauded taxpayers or who has been convicted of a serious crime should be denaturalized and deported.

Renner made the comments during a news conference while speaking in front of a "No Sharia Law" sign. Sharia law is a religious legal framework derived from Islamic texts that governs aspects of life for some Muslims.

The gubernatorial candidate pointed to the passage of a bill in the Florida Legislature prohibiting the use of certain foreign laws, including Sharia law, in state courts.

Renner asserted that "only American law can be used in American courts and that should go without saying."

He added that he would also end all funding for schools that promote what he described as Sharia law concepts.

Renner said he would pursue legislation designating the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs).

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis previously issued an executive order last December designating the groups as FTOs, but a federal judge issued a temporary injunction citing First Amendment concerns, according to The Floridian.

In his announcement, Renner cited a "recurring pattern of conflict and violence" in the years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, including a recent shooting at Old Dominion University in Virginia that left one person dead and two others injured.

The suspected shooter, Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, was a former Army National Guard soldier convicted of supporting ISIS, according to the DOJ.

"The simple fact is while there may be people in this country that will live peaceably with us, as a system there will continue to be increased division, increased conflict, and increased violence, which we have seen over the decades since 9/11, and we have to be realistic about that and put a stop to it so that we protect Americans," Renner said. "That is the first order of business for any governor or any elected official and that is what I will do as governor."

DeSantis, who is serving his second consecutive term, is not permitted to run again in 2026. President Donald Trump has previously backed U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds for the job.

California sheriff seizes 650,000 ballots in defiance of state officials over election count dispute

A California sheriff and top Republican candidate for governor seized over 650,000 votes from the state's November elections this weekend.

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco launched an investigation into the state's November 2025 special election on Proposition 50 after a third-party organization, the Riverside Election Integrity Team, claimed it found roughly 45,000 excess votes. California elections officials have dismissed the team's findings, but Bianco says his office will conduct another count.

"This investigation is simple: Physically count the ballots and compare that result with the total votes recorded," Bianco told reporters at a Friday press conference.

Proposition 50 was a key proposal seeking to reform California's congressional districts. It was designed to favor Democrats in response to a similar effort by Republicans in Texas.

BIANCO SAYS ‘DEMOCRAT POLICY IS INDEFENSIBLE’ AS GOP CANDIDATES TOP CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR POLLING

Secretary of State Shirley Weber has argued Bianco has no authority to carry out a recount.

"The Riverside County Sheriff's Office has taken actions based on allegations that lack credible evidence and risk undermining public confidence in our elections," Weber told City News Service. "The sheriff's assertion that his deputies know how to count is admirable. The fact remains that he and his deputies are not elections officials, and they do not have expertise in election administration."

Riverside elections official Art Tinoco rejected the Riverside Election Integrity Team's findings earlier this month, saying the group had misinterpreted how votes are counted on Election Day.

Tinoco told county supervisors earlier this year that the initial intake logs by polling workers are meant to be estimates rather than exact tallies of how many votes were cast. Even so, he said the final tally was within 0.16%, or 103 votes, of the original estimate.

The Elections Integrity Team maintains their math is correct, however, and it was this disagreement that led Bianco to open an investigation of his own.

Bianco accused California Attorney General Bob Bonta, a Democrat, of intervening in the investigation. Bonta, however, says his office only sought to learn the basis of the probe.

"We have attempted to work cooperatively with the Sheriff’s Office in order to better understand the basis for their investigation, including by reviewing the warrants themselves and by requesting the Sheriff’s complete investigative file," Bonta's office told 91�� Digital on Sunday. "We made these requests pursuant to the Attorney General’s supervisory authority over county sheriffs."

"During this time, the Sheriff has delayed, stonewalled, and otherwise refused to work with us in good faith. To date, the Sheriff has failed to provide most of the requested documentation. But, what we have been able to learn raises serious questions about the merits of this investigation. We are especially concerned with legal deficiencies in the affidavits underlying the warrants, including the omission of material facts," his office added.

Bianco has also clashed on social media with Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., who is running for California governor as well.

Bianco said Friday that his office had received multiple letters from Bonta ordering him to cease the investigation, according to the Desert Sun.

"The outrage that an investigation was happening was extremely concerning to me, especially coming from someone who claims to be a law enforcement officer that is, I’ve said this a minimum of a thousand times, he’s an embarrassment to law enforcement," Bianco said.

Rep. Kevin Kiley explained California's voter ID during an appearance Thursday on "Straight Shooter with Stephen A," on SiriusXM, prompting a stunned response from host Stephen A. Smith as the conversation turned to election integrity and federal reform.

"California does not have voter ID," Kiley said. "You don’t need to present it to register. You don’t need to present it to vote."

"What!? That’s why the SAVE Act has been proposed right there … the state of California," said Smith, shocked.

The exchange unfolded as the House of Representatives had already passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which would require proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections, with a path to pass awaiting in the Senate.

Kiley argued California laws prevent local governments from setting their own requirements, claiming it is "banned" within the state.

"The state passed a law forbidding voter ID," Kiley said, adding that localities, cities and counties are not allowed to enact their own standards. Smith admitted he was unaware of the policy.

"There’s maybe like two or three democracies in the world that don’t have it," Kiley noted. "This is just kind of a standard administrative requirement in a well-functioning democracy."

Smith acknowledged Republicans are likely to use California's approach as a central argument in pushing federal election reforms.

"That's what the Republicans [are] gonna lean on as an excuse to definitely push forth the Save Act right there, right there. I can't believe it," Smith stated.

"We have $5.56 per gallon right now in California … nearly $2 higher than the national average," he said. "Our regulations are impossible to comply with."

Kiley also highlighted broader economic pressures, pointing to housing, energy and taxation.

"We have the highest housing prices … highest electricity rates … highest taxes," he said. "That’s why we have the highest poverty in California when you factor in cost of living."

GOP billionaire trying to woo Trump's support in key Georgia race bankrolled his 2024 presidential rivals

FIRST ON FOX: One of the top Republican contenders for governor in Georgia hyped that he would "be Trump's favorite governor" and is vying for President Donald Trump's endorsement, but his Federal Election Commission records reveal he financially backed multiple GOP rivals of Trump during the 2024 presidential race.

In particular, two top contenders, Lt. Gov. Burt Jones and billionaire healthcare entrepreneur Rick Jackson, have been sparring over who is more aligned with Trump.

"This Primary Election is very simple," Jones says on his campaign website. "There is one authentic conservative who has fought for President Trump." Meanwhile, Jackson has assured voters that he would "be Trump's favorite governor" after donating $1 million to the president's political action committee, MAGA Inc. less than two months before he jumped in the race last month.

However, Jackson and his network of companies and investment groups have a history of donating funds to Trump's rivals, including during his 2024 presidential bid prior to him obtaining the Republican Party nomination, according to a 91�� Digital review of FEC filings. Jackson gave at least $150,000 to Nikki Haley and $100,000 to Vivek Ramaswamy, who were both running against Trump at the time.

TRUMP ALLY CLAY FULLER ADVANCES IN GEORGIA FIGHT FOR MTG’S FORMER SEAT

Jackson Investment Group, an entity that Jackson has controlled for decades, according to a 2024 SEC filing, spent at least $150,000 supporting Nikki Haley through the SFA Fund, INC., and Team Stand for America. The SFA Fund, INC. received three separate donations from the Jackson Investment Group totaling at least $140,000 between 2023 and 2024, including $40,000 weeks before Haley suspended her campaign in early 2024. Jackson also directly gave $10,000 to Team Stand for America, a joint fundraising committee that was supporting Haley.

The $100,000 donation from the Jackson Investment Group to Ramaswamy's super PAC occurred in July 2023, months before he suspended his campaign in Jan. 2024.

Jackson has also donated across the last decade to other Trump rivals like former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., former Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, and over $1 million in support of Jeb Bush's 2016 presidential campaign against Trump, FEC filings show. Jackson also contributed funds against Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green, R-Ga., when she was fully on the MAGA train in 2020, and donated to Sen. Lindsay Graham's, R-S.C., 2016 presidential bid shortly after he dropped out and endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.

The $2,700 donation to Cheney's leadership PAC, The Great Task, came weeks after she joined Democrats in voting to impeach Trump after they said he incited the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Jackson, the wealthy founder of Jackson Healthcare who is seeding his own campaign with at least $50 million, shook up a primary field that many had expected was set in stone between Jones, the Trump-endorsed front-runner, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and state Attorney General Chris Carr.

The newcomer to the race has brushed off attacks that he is not sufficiently loyal to Trump, comparing himself to people serving in Trump's orbit who were once skeptics of the president, like Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance. When reached for comment about his previous donations to Trump rivals, a Jackson campaign spokesperson pivoted to Jones.

"Self-dealing Burt Jones is recycling old attacks to distract from his failing campaign. From shielding doctors who perform sex change surgeries on minors to protecting Chinese vape manufacturers for campaign cash and family profit, the more Georgians learn about Burt Jones, the more they realize he operates like the kingpin of the Atlanta political mob. That’s why even with the endorsement, Burt Jones is losing," Dave Abrams, a Jackson campaign spokesperson, told 91�� Digital when reached for comment.

"To be clear, President Trump endorsed Burt Jones for governor," a former senior Trump White House official told 91�� Digital. "Rick Jackson claiming he is Trump’s ‘favorite’ is downright dishonest."

Kayla Lott, a campaign spokesperson for Jones, contested the claim from Jackson's team that he has worked to protect Chinese vape manufacturers, arguing the Lt. Gov.'s efforts on a bill that would have created a directory of authorized nicotine vapor products was about preventing monopolization and promoting free-market solutions. Lott also pointed to Jones' support for House Bill 54, preventing minors from obtaining sex-change surgeries or drug treatment.

Even before his support for Bush in 2016, Jackson supported Romney, another Trump rival who has described the president as a "phony" and a "fraud." FEC filings show that Jackson spent over $100,000 supporting Romney's presidential campaign and his political action committee, Romney Victory Inc. Trump repeatedly said Romney "choked" in 2012 and "let us all down."

Jackson, Jones, Carr and Raffensperger will duke it out in their upcoming primary on May 19, with the general election to follow in early November.

Trump touts 5-0 sweep by endorsed candidates in Tuesday primary elections

President Donald Trump took a bow Tuesday night for his 5-0 record for his endorsed candidates in the Republican elections held in Mississippi and Georgia.

"March 10th election update: 5 wins, 0 losses," an election night image posted to Truth Social blared. "President Trump endorsements 100%."

The image hailed a 4-0 record in Mississippi (Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss.; Reps. Mike Ezell, R-Miss.; Rep. Michael Guest, R-Miss.; Rep. Trent Kelly, R-Miss.) and 1-0 in Georgia, albeit with a bullet.

"President Trump’s endorsed candidates keep winning because Republican voters trust his leadership and want America First champions in Congress," RNC spokeswoman Emma Hall told 91�� Digital in a statement. "From cutting taxes to securing the border, every Republican candidate in the country is proudly running on President Trump’s record and competing for his endorsement because it remains the single most decisive factor in GOP primaries."

In one of the marquee matchups, an all-party special election for an open House seat, Republican Clay Fuller earned an April 7 runoff against Democrat Shawn Harris for the seat vacated by former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., in Georgia's "solid red" 14th Congressional District.

While Fuller did not earn the special election victory, and Harris won the most votes (37.3%) in a 17-candidate field that included nine Republicans, Harris only had to outdistance two Democrats. Fuller trailed Harris by only 3,000 votes at 34.9%. Republican Colton Moore finished third and out of the running at 11.6%, while no other candidate reached 5%.

The total number of votes cast across all candidates in this election result thus far is 115,823, and Republicans outdistanced Democrat votes by nearly 20 points. GOP candidates garnered a total of 59.7%, while Democrats had 39.8% and independents had less than 1%.

"Congratulations to Clay Fuller, of Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, on getting such a high percentage of the vote with 12 Republicans running," Trump wrote Tuesday night on Truth Social. "We want to make the next vote 'TOO BIG TO RIG.' Clay will be a GREAT Congressman — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!"

Fuller was a White House fellow in the first Trump administration and is a lieutenant colonel in the Georgia Air National Guard. He finished fourth in the 2020 Republican primary that Greene won. He credited Trump’s nod for propelling him to the runoff.

"They want to know who President Trump was endorsing in this race," Fuller said. "And that’s why they came out in droves to support him, because they want an America First fighter on Capitol Hill fighting for his policies that are going to make a difference for our community."

Harris said he is not worried about further Trump intervention.

"If Donald Trump wants to come and do what he wants to do, that’s his business," he said.

The House GOP majority is a narrow 218-214 right now, making the Fuller-Harris April 7 runoff an important one for upcoming 2026 votes. There are two other vacancies awaiting special elections this year, including blue-state seats formerly held by New Jersey Democrat Gov. Mikie Sherrill, who resigned from the House in November, and the late Rep. Doug LaMalfa, R-Calif., who died Jan. 6.

Illinois is next up on the GOP primary schedule on Tuesday, March 17, when three Trump-endorsed candidates are incumbents: Reps. Mike Bost, R-Ill., Mary Miller, R-Ill., and Darin LaHood, R-Ill.

The next big GOP primary challenge forged by Trump is frequent MAGA foil Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., on May 19. Trump-backed Ed Gallrein is vying for that seat.
